Dr. Shirl Donaldson is a multifaceted individual, embodying the roles of a dedicated researcher, accomplished scholar, trusted consultant, and esteemed assistant professor.

Hailing from the vibrant city of Detroit, MI, Dr. Donaldson's upbringing was a tapestry woven with passions for automobiles, music, sports, and delectable cuisine. From a tender age, she actively participated in her family's business, an experience that kindled her fascination with business operations and project management. Her relentless pursuit of knowledge led her to Indiana Wesleyan University, where she attained a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration. This academic milestone served as a springboard, enabling her to make meaningful contributions within and beyond the confines of her family enterprise.

However, even as Dr. Donaldson thrived in the business realm, she began to discern glaring disparities within the domains of higher education and STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics). Determined to address these inequities head-on, she embarked on a transformative journey at Purdue University, where she pursued a Master of Science (MS) and a Ph.D. Her doctoral studies were dedicated to unraveling the intricacies of these disparities and advocating for change in these fields.

Today, Dr. Donaldson is a pivotal member of the Sustainability Cluster and the Urban Institute for Racial, Economic, and Environmental Justice. Her commitment to these areas of research has fueled numerous projects aimed at understanding the reasons behind graduate student attrition rates, championing diversity and inclusion in STEM disciplines, and fostering Innovative Entrepreneurship within the African American Community, among other endeavors.

Dr. Donaldson's unwavering dedication revolves around creating opportunities for all individuals to access STEM fields and successfully navigate their academic journeys. She warmly invites you to join her in this noble mission, where her tireless efforts continue to inspire and empower the next generation of scholars and leaders.
